PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a personal computer characterized in that LEDs in a backlight device of a liquid crystal display apparatus are divided into a center section and a peripheral section and the luminance of each section can be arbitrarily controlled by using each individual luminance control signal. SOLUTION: The luminance in an optional part of the backlight device 11 of the liquid crystal display apparatus can be controlled by dividing the inner LEDs of the backlight device 11 into the center section 16 and the peripheral sections 17, 18 and separately providing the respective luminance control signals 15. Thereby, a power-saving backlight device of the liquid crystal display apparatus can be constituted having high operating property materializing power-saving operation while keeping the luminance in the required section of the backlight device 11.
