PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projecting device or the like capable of controlling an external device with easy operation even in a standby state where a main CPU does not operate. SOLUTION: The projecting device 1 has: the main CPU 51 collectively controlling the device itself and controlling the external device D connected to the device itself; a sub CPU 52 which assists the control of the main CPU and whose power consumption is lower than that of the main CPU; a projection lamp 31 projecting an image; and a connection part 20 to which the external device is connected, and performs state transition between a low power consumption standby state where the projection lamp is turned off and also only the sub CPU operates and a double CPU operation state where the main CPU and the sub CPU operate. The sub CPU performs the state transition from the low power consumption standby state to the double CPU operation state when detecting that the external device is connected to the connection part in the low power consumption standby state.
