PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a washing apparatus and a washing method for traveling fibers capable of efficiently removing the solvent in the fiber without damaging the fiber in the case of the wet spinning or dry wet spinning of a synthetic fiber composed of an organic polymer. SOLUTION: A synthetic fiber bundle 2 spun by a wet spinning method or a dry wet spinning method and coagulated in a coagulation bath in the form of a fiber is introduced into a water-washing tank 3 and washed to remove the solvent remaining in the fiber. The above washing apparatus or method is provided with a means 1 to eject a gas/liquid mixed fluid composed of a mixture of gas and liquid against the fiber bundle 2 traveling in the water washing tank 3.
