PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rectifier which is achieved in high-accuracy current balance between parallel power semiconductors without selecting electric characteristics of the parallel-connected power semiconductors, and a rectifying method. SOLUTION: The rectifier is constituted of N-pieces of bridges which are connected in parallel with one another with a plurality of the power semiconductors which alternately repeat the application and the stop of electricity as one bridge, and comprises a current share calculation means which obtains a current share of each power semiconductor on the basis of output currents of the power semiconductors which are connected in parallel with one another at the same phases, a stop cycle determination means which determines a stop cycle for temporarily stopping an output of a specified power semiconductor on the basis of a combination of magnitudes of current shares, and a gate drive control means which controls the gate drive of the power semiconductor on the basis of the stop cycle.
