The invention provides a support 10 for securing a ladder 20 to an anchored pole 40, the support comprises a body provided with a pole receiving means 30, a ladder securing portion 60 in engagement with the body and adapted to engage with the ladder, a pole securing means 50 mounted on the body and moveable between an open configuration in which the pole is removable from the pole receiving means and a closed configuration in which the pole is retained within the pole receiving means, and a control means 70 linked to the pole securing means. The control means may be a rope or cable operable to move the pole securing means between open and closed configurations wherein application of a force to the control means moves the pole securing means to a closed configuration. Also provided is a ladder comprising such a support, a method of securing such a ladder in position relative to an anchored pole and a method of arresting the fall of a person climbing such a ladder. |
