PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pressure sensitive adhesive imparting a pressure sensitive adhesive layer with a large refractive index, in particular with at least 1.50 of refractive index, more particularly, a pressure sensitive adhesive imparting a pressure sensitive adhesive layer with at least 1.50 of refractive index and expressing at least 5 N/25 mm of adhesive force, suitable for laminating an optical functional film such as a polarizing plate (film), a retardation plate (film), etc., to a liquid crystal cell. SOLUTION: The invention relates to a urethane resin obtained by reacting a hydroxyl group and/or a thiol group of a compound (D) which has a hydroxyl group and/or a thiol group on both terminals obtained by reacting a (meth)acryloyl group in a di(meth)acrylate (A) with a monothiol containing a hydroxyl group (B) and/or a thiol group in dithiol (C), with an isocyanate group in a diisocyanate (E).
