PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To record data composed of a plurality of designated tracks as one file at recording the data on a recording medium in a unit of files. SOLUTION: A data recording and reproduction device 10 is equipped with: a recording means 17 to record the data when recording data recorded in a first recording medium on a second recording medium 12 based on a first recording mode to record data composed of one track as one file, or based on a second recording mode to record data composed of a plurality of tracks as one file; and a management information creating means 18 to create management information to discriminate the data of respective tracks recorded as one file based on the second recording mode, as data corresponding to what type of a track and to manage the data. When recording data composed of the plurality of designated tracks out of data recorded in the first recording medium on the second recording medium 12, the management information creating means 18 creates the management information in the case that the data are recorded based on the second recording mode.
