PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately position a loading platform at a desired retraction position when storing the loading platform under a floor. SOLUTION: This cargo handling device C is provided with a slide cylinder 49 for taking in/out the loading platform 3 between a use position projected to a rear side of a vehicle and a retraction position on a lower side of a floor surface b2, a fixed frame 45 fixed to a vehicle body side to abut on a mechanism frame 9 when the loading platform 3 reaches the retraction position, and storage state detecting sensor 84 and detecting dock 85 for detecting the loading platform 3 at a position before the loading platform 3 reaches the retraction position. When the loading platform 3 is retracted up to the retraction position by the slide cylinder 49, driving of the slide cylinder 49 is stopped after the lapse of prescribed time T after detecting the loading platform 3 by the storage state detecting sensor 84 and the detecting dock 85.
