摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the deterioration of exhaust emission when starting full-cylinder operation after finishing reduced-cylinder operation.MEANS FOR SOLVING THE PROBLEM: There is provided a variable cylinder control device of an internal combustion engine which comprises first and second exhaust passages which are independent at a part or remaining cylinders, and a variable valve mechanism which makes variable an operation characteristic of a suction/exhaust valve of a part of the cylinders. The variable cylinder control device comprises a cylinder control part which performs either of a full-cylinder operation and a reduced-cylinder operation for making a part of the cylinders pause, and a dynamic valve control part for controlling the variable valve mechanism. In the reduced-cylinder operation, the dynamic valve control part maintains a suction valve of a part of the cylinders in a valve-closed state, and slightly lifts an exhaust valve of a part of the cylinders so that an exhaust gas in the first exhaust passage is sucked into a part of the cylinders. In the reduced-cylinder operation, when an amount (ΣGb) of the exhaust gas which is consumed from the first exhaust passage exceeds a prescribed amount (α), the cylinder control part stops the reduced-cylinder operation (S207).SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 14
