According to an embodiment of the present invention, a portable terminal which processes card information while being connected to a card reader apparatus includes: a connection terminal into which a connector of the card reader apparatus is inserted; a transaction information processing part which executes a financial transaction application on the basis of the card information received through the connector; an image information capture part which captures image information of a trader performing a financial transaction, while the financial transaction is executed by the financial transaction application; and a memory storing the captured image information. The card reader apparatus, the portable terminal and the operation method of the present invention can improve security by storing the captured image information or using the captured image information for authentication, by photographing the image of the trader.
