1. A method of performing hemodialysis comprising:
passing dialysis fluid from a dialyzer through, in any order, a carbon source, a urease source, and a combination unit comprising an electrodialysis (“ED”) component and an electrodeionization (“EDI”) component to produce a cleaned dialysis fluid, wherein the ED component and the EDI component are separate, and wherein the dialysis fluid is passed within the combination unit via a fluid path from the ED component to the separate EDI component; and returning the cleaned dialysis fluid to the dialyzer. |
