The invention relates to a method for generating a three-dimensional virtual model of at least one portion of a person's skeleton, characterised in that an imaging device (1) is used to observe the person (Ind): a plurality of parameters are generated which are extrinsic to the person's skeleton and represent the geometry of an outer shell (E); and radiological images are generated which show said at least one portion of the person's skeleton; and by means of said extrinsic parameters, areas of interest to be observed are determined in the radiological images, these areas of interest are then searched for characteristic points of bones of the skeleton in order to deduce therefrom the relative positions of these bones in a spatial frame of reference and thus to generate said three-dimensional virtual model of said portion of the person's skeleton.
