Back rest for a weaving machine

The endeavour to design the back rest serving for compensating the shed movement with as little mass as possible, in order to prevent the effects of inertia force on the warp threads, is restricted by the constructive requirements for sufficient stability of the back rest. By means of the present invention, it is proposed to design the back rest in two parts and to design the guide face for the warp threads, for example, as the outer face of a top which is articulated elastically movably on a gutter-like basic body and which is pressed against the warp threads by a cavity loaded with gas pressure. As a result of this design, the forces exerted by the warp threads are absorbed by the pressure forces in the cavity. The top part itself can be made light and with low inertia.
