The protective roof for a fork lift truck incorporates a support frame which has front and rear supports posts (2). The head protection surface is split in the longitudinal direction into two parts (5,5'). The two parts are arranged to swivel upwards about an axis (8) running parallel to the inner edges extending between the support posts. The split parts are connected to or connectable to pendulums (9) swivelling about the same axis. USE/ADVANTAGE - Protective roof for driver of fork lift truck avoids danger of driver being crushed between roof and floor, should vehicle overturn.
