PURPOSE:To provide the method for purifying the compound, capable of obtaining the highly pure compound from which impurities difficult in purification by distillation methods have been removed. CONSTITUTION:Fluoromethyl-1,1,1,3,3,3-hexafluoroisopropyl ether containing at least by-produced fluoroethers, especially bisfluoromethyl ether compounds, is treated with one or more kinds of a Bronsted acid, a Lewis acid and an acid immobilized on a resin to effectively remove the by-produced fluorinated ethers. When the Bronsted acid and/or the Lewis acid are used, the acids are used in an acid/by-produced fluoroether molar ratio of 0.2-20, preferably 1-10, and when the immobilized acid is used, the immobilized acid is preferably used so that the weight ratio of the immobilized acid/the crude fluoromethyl-1,1,1,3,3,3-hexafluoroisopropyl ether is 0.01-0.5, because a sufficient treating speed is obtained due to the solid-liquid reaction. The temperature for the acid treatment is 0-100 deg.C, especially 20-40 deg.C. |
