PURPOSE: To supply and refill carbonate at the same time to a wide range of electrolyte matrix in a simple structure, and besides, to supply and refill carbonate after layering of a fuel cell. CONSTITUTION: A stack 15 is constituted by layering cells and separators so that the end face of the margin of electrolyte matrix may be exposed to atmosphere outside the stack, and its stack 15 is accommodated in a carbonate bath 22. Carbonate is accommodated in advance in the carbonate bath 22, or the carbonate is supplied from the carbonate supply and discharge pipe 23 at the time of supply of carbonate, and when the supply of carbonate is completed, the carbonate remaining in the carbonate bath is discharged from the carbonate supply and discharge pipe 23. Hereby, the carbonate penetrates and is supplied to electrolyte matrix from the exposed section of electrolyte matrix, and further it is supplied to an anode electrode and a cathode electrode. |
