A speed change operating device (A) for bicycles which comprises an operating body (2) that is rotatably operable and is connected to a derailleur of a bicycle via an operating cable (C). The device has a first link (3) and a second link (4), which are relatively rotatably connected to each other at one end (3b) of the first link and at one end (4b) of the second link. The other end (3a) of the first link is supported such that it moves circumferentially of the operating body (2) as the operating body (2) rotates, the other end (4a) of the second link (4) is rotatably supported at a fixed position, and the operating cable (C) is connected to the second link (4) at one end thereof.
