[Class 37] [Also in Group XXXVIII] Two waveforms whose phase difference is to be determined are applied through respective transformers T1, T2 to rectifier networks I, II. In one network the two waveforms are summed and in the other network applied differentially. The rectified outputs of the two networks appearing across load resistors R are fed differentially to the output line CD which yields a unidirectional potential directly proportional in magnitude to the phase displacement. Linearity is achieved by limiters 1, 2 which bring the two input waveforms to the same amplitude and preferably transform them to rectangular shape.
