PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a radio selective calling receiver that automatically interrupts a call notification, in response to a call contents when it is put in a pocket or a bag. SOLUTION: A radio selective calling receiver, having a function of receiving a radio wave including a selective calling signal to make a calling notification, is provided with a detection wave emission section 8 that externally emits a detected wave such as an infrared ray, and a detection wave reception section 9 that receives the detection wave emitted from the detection wave emission section 8 and reflected in an object. When a comparison result by a comparator section 4 indicates matching, the section 4 provides an output of a call notification command signal and a detection wave emission command signal to allow the detection wave emission section 8 to emit the detection wave, and when the detection wave reception section 9 receives a detection wave reflected in an object to be detected, a notification control signal is outputted to notification sections 6, 7.
