Pumping of liquid and gases containing solid particles uses positive displacement piston pumps and control valves

A fluid containing solid particles is supplied from a tank (11) and through a pipe (7) connecting to a dual pumped line. Each line has a positive displacement piston pump (10,14). On either side of each pump are a pair of shut off valves (2,4,6,8) and these are operated to a sequence to pump the fluid to an output line.
