Method and arrangement in a papermaking machine for transfer of a paper web W formed in a moulding section 1 thereof into a pressing section 2, during which method and in which arrangement the paper web W is transferred in the region of a pick-up station P, formed in conjunction with a wet wire gauze 10 in the moulding section 1, by making use of a pressure difference, onto a pick-up fabric 20, and the paper web W is supported by this and taken to the pressing section 2 of the papermaking machine. According to the invention, the pressing section 2 has two nips N, NP, of which the first nip N in the machine direction has a nip zone between two pressing rollers 22, 31, one of which is a suction roller 22, and the other one in the machine direction is a long nip NS, whose long nip zone lies between a middle roller 25 and a roller 42 with band lining, which can be loaded by a long nip shoe 43. Furthermore, between the roller nip N and the long nip NS is arranged a guide zone S for the web W, where the paper web W runs between the middle roller 25 and the transfer fabric 20. <IMAGE>
