A PNA derivative of formula I; the use of the derivative for producing a pharmaceutical for tumor therapy; the use of the derivative as a diagnostic agent, for detecting microorganisms and/or viruses, for detecting and/or quantifying nucleic acids; as a detection reagent for in situ hybridization or fluorescence in situ hybridization, as an antisense agent, and anti-gene agent, a decoy agent or chimeraplast agent or as a molecular beacon; and a process for preparing a PNA derivative for formula I.
