A pho2-2 peptide from group B streptococcus encoded by the gene set out in SEQ ID NO: 14 or a homologue having at least 70% sequence similarity thereto or a functional fragment thereof, for therapeutic use; a host cell transformed to express the peptide; a vaccine comprising the peptide; an antibody raised against the peptide; the use of the peptide for screening potential; and the use of the peptide in the manufacture of a medicament for use in the treatment of prevention of a condition associated with bacterial infection such as Group B streptococcal infection, focal infection or urinary tract infection.
