PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a safe and high-brightness light-emitting device that has almost no change in luminescent color in wide-range drive currents and in wide-range environmental temperatures. SOLUTION: The light-emitting device for emitting light includes at least one light-emitting element 1 which has a wavelength-selective resonator structure, and a transparent material 2 including at least one kind of phosphor that emits fluorescence while receiving the light of the light-emitting element 1. A light-emitting wavelength of the light-emitting element 1 is a single longitudinal mode. A peak wavelength position of the light-emitting wavelength corresponds to that of an absorption spectrum of the phosphor. Single-longitudinal-mode light-emission emitted from the light-emitting element 1 excites the phosphor of the transparent material 2. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
