PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a flying speed of a liquid from becoming excessive owing to an electric field in a recording portion 110. SOLUTION: This liquid jet apparatus comprises: a recording head which has a conductive nozzle plate 252, and which ejects ink onto recording paper 150; a recording head control portion 262 which changes an ink ejection speed of the recording head; an absorption member 236 for absorbing the ink which has not adhered to the recording paper 150 while being jetted from the recording head; an electrode 310 which is arranged adjacently to the absorption member 236; a voltage source 270 which forms the electric field by applying a voltage to the electrode 310 and generating a difference in potential between the nozzle plate 252 and the electrode 310, so as to electrically attract the ink, jetted from the recording head, toward the electrode 310; and an ink-collecting-operation control portion 264 which starts or stops the application of the voltage by the voltage source 270.
