PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a protective structure allowing the construction of a completed cross section of the protective structure connected to an existing intermediate protective structure even for a road to be widened and improved in the future. SOLUTION: An intermediate protective structure 2 serving as the protective structure on the mountain side Y has a mountain side support body 3 provided on the mountain side Y of a road 101 which is a protected object with the valley side T forming an inclined face 103, and a mountain side roof 4 supported by the mountain side support body 3 and covering at least a part of the road 101. The intermediate protective structure 2 has structure with strength requiring no additional work to reinforce the intermediate protective structure 2 even if extension on the valley side part is carried out.
