PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an opening-closing unit for a door or the like which is light in weight and is thin and has sufficient strength. SOLUTION: The opening-closing unit for the door or the like comprises (a) an elongated outer cylinder which presents a substantially flat C-shaped cross section, (b) an elongated internally inserting member which presents a substantially flat C-shaped cross section and has a protrusion part protruding inward on an upper surface and is expandably inserted from the rear end part of the outer cylinder into the outer cylinder so that its opening surface faces the opening surface of the C-shaped cross section of the outer cylinder, (c) an engaging plate which is arranged on the bottom surface in the vicinity of the tip part of the outer cylinder and has a recessed engaging part, and (d) a leaf spring which has an end part at the root side fixed to the vicinity of the rear end part inside the internally inserting member and has on the tip part a protruding piece to be engaged with the engaging part.
