PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing staple fibers which are excellent in dischargeability and dispersibility from a rotary blade type fiber bundle cutter. SOLUTION: The method for producing the staple fibers having steps of adding a mixture surfactant comprising a polyether ester type nonionic surfactant and an ether type nonionic activator in a mass ratio of 1:9-9:1 to a filament bundle having an average fiber diameter of≤4μm, and then cutting the mixture surfactant-added filament bundle with a rotary blade type fiber bundle cutter. The stable fibers can also be produced from a filament fiber containing one or more kinds of a polyolefin-based resin and/or a polyamide-based resin. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
