PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To properly control a force to apply to an imaging device in accordance with variation in the characteristics of the imaging device and peripheral circuits in image capturing.SOLUTION: An imaging apparatus comprises: the imaging device with two dimensional alignment of plural pixels; drive means which causes the imaging device to generate a stress; and control means which controls the drive means so that a stress to be received by the imaging device in the case of performing a signal accumulation operation of the imaging device becomes larger than that in the case of performing a signal read operation of the imaging device.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6
