PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chip resistor with improved sulfur-resistance performance while suppressing cost, and a method for manufacturing the same.SOLUTION: A chip resistor A1 includes: a substrate 1 having a mounting surface 11 and a packaging surface 12; a pair of upper electrodes 31 arranged on both ends of the mounting surface 11; a resistor element 2 installed between the pair of upper electrodes 31; a side electrode 33 which has a portion arranged on a side surface 13 of the substrate 1 and a portion overlapping with the mounting surface 11 and the packaging surface 12, and which is electrically connected to the upper electrodes 31; and an intermediate electrode 34 covering the side electrode 33, and an external electrode 35. The chip electrode also includes: a first protective layer 41 which is disposed between the upper electrodes 31 and the intermediate electrode 34 and arranged in contact with the upper electrodes 31 and the side electrode 33, the first protective layer having a characteristic that is more resistant to sulfurization than the upper electrodes 31; and a second protective layer 42 which is disposed between the first protective layer 41 and the intermediate electrode 34 and arranged in contact with the first protective layer 41, the side electrode 33 and the intermediate electrode 34, the second protective layer having conductivity.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3 |
