PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress development of disclination while decreasing reduction in brightness or contrast.SOLUTION: An image display device having a first liquid crystal panel and a second liquid crystal panel for modifying the same beam is provided, which includes panel drive means for converting a signal input to the image display device into a drive signal to drive the liquid crystal panels. When a difference in the drive signals between adjoining pixels is less than a threshold, the panel drive means drives the first liquid crystal panel or the second liquid crystal panel by the drive signal; and when the difference is equal to or larger than the threshold, the panel drive means calculates a first drive signal for driving the first liquid crystal panel and a second drive signal for driving the second liquid crystal panel, and drives the first liquid crystal panel and the second liquid crystal panel.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
