A small engine either directly or undirectable drives a flywheel whose dia. is almost as great as the width of the vehicle. The engine drives the flywheel at its outer periphery. The speed can be altered by providing teeth on the flywheel surface so that in direct drive the motor moves towards the wheel centre or by providing a telescopic drive shaft. The continuous rotation of the flywheel during normal stops at cross roads restarts the motor to continue the journey.
