PURPOSE:To extend the detecting range of a movement vector without the broad extension of circuits by correcting the average space gradient of a present screen and a previous screen by a density difference operating means. CONSTITUTION:Picture signals (g) inputted to an input terminal 10 are divided into three routes, firstly, a time gradient (d) is calculated, secondly, a space gradient gd2 within the present screen is calculated and thirdly, a space gradient gd1 within the previous screen is calculated. Besides, an optimum averaging circuit 30 executes optimum weighting to the space gradients gd1 and gd2 of the previous screen and the present screen and averages them. Then, a multiplier 28 multiplies the output of a code output circuit 26 to the output of a subtracter 20 of the time gradient (d). Thus, for the previous screen and the present screen, the average space gradient is found under the fixed weight. Thus, also on a picture of which the space gradient time-changes, a more precise movement vector is detected and application is attained also to the picture of which movement is large. |
