The mechanical oscillation damper to be coupled to the body being dampened, contains a continuous converting mechanical energy into heat energy. The body being dampened is mechanically coupled to a hollow body partly filled with a liquid or a mixture. The liquid possesses an inner friction dependent on temperature. The mixture consists of a granulate mixture of gas and solids, or a mixture of a liquid and at least one solid. The solids and/or the inner walls of the hollow body are plastically deformable. The mixture consists of a mixture of air and quartz-sand, the quantity and/or granulation of which is/are adapted to the damping required.
