An actuator (2) is used to operate an electrical load, such as a heating circuit (20). Located between the actuator and the load a plug-in interface connector (1) is provided. On one side connections (14) couple to switching stages (36, 37) within the actuator. The actuator has connecting contacts (12) that receive the outputs of the actuator switching stages. A second set of contacts (13) provides a load connection via a plug and cable. For a particular situation the load has two heating elements (25, 26). Modules may be varied for different loads. USE/ADVANTAGE - Simple modular arrangement for different application requirements, e.g. hotplates, oven heating elements, boilers.
