Reducing water and energy consumption in washing textiles

A process is for reducing the water and energy consumption of a washing line consisting of several machines for cleaning textiles. The process involves generating a bath current in which a proportion of the washing water after being fed into the last machine of the line is supplied against the conveying direction of the washing of the preceding washing machines. After running through at least one machine, the bath current is interrupted, the water is fed to a purification unit and the purified water is subsequently fed back to the washing machine line.
