PURPOSE:To provide a reaction vessel for producing bisphenol A which is provided with a cylindrical reaction vessel containing a packed layer of a catalyst for producing bisphenol A therein, where the packed layer of catalyst has a small contact resistance to the flowing-contact of a raw material mixture consisting of acetone and bisphenol A. CONSTITUTION:This reaction vessel for the production of bisphenol A is provided with a cylindrical reaction vessel having a packed layer of a bisphenol A producing catalyst consisting of a modified sulfonic acid-type cation exchange resin of a gel-type therein, in which a part of the sulfonic acid group is modified with an amine compound containing sulfur. The granular catalyst has an average particle diameter of 0.2-2.0mm and a uniformity index of particle size distribution of 1.0-1.4.
