<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicular steering device ensuring excellent operability in the case where any auxiliary force is not given. <P>SOLUTION: A main shaft 21 has an upper shaft 211 and a lower shaft 212 which are slidable to each other. A sun gear 211a is formed on the shaft 211. A straight gear 212a is formed on the shaft 212, and a plurality of planetary gears 212b to be engaged with a ring gear 222a fixed to a vehicle body are assembled thereto. When the assist torque Ta is not present, an auxiliary force giving means (an electric motor) is temporarily operated, and the tooth position is adjusted by relatively rotating the gear 211a and the gear 212b by a small amount so that the gear 211a is engaged with the gear 212b. The steering torque t is reduced by reliably increasing the reduction gear ratio between the shaft 211 and the shaft 212.
