PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make possible forming a liquid crystal display device excellent for visibility in both modes of reflection/transmission, excellent for reducing power consumption and prolonging the life of a battery by providing a translucent type reflection layer on a polarizing plate and making an L value based on the reflection mode with a color difference meter through the polarizing plate a specified value or above. SOLUTION: The translucent type reflection layer 3 is provided on the polarizing plate 1, and the L value based on the reflection mode by the color difference meter through the attached polarizing plate 1 is 50 or above. When the translucent type polarizing plate is formed, the translucent type reflection layer 3 is provided by a proper method such as that e.g. the translucent type reflection layer 3 is attached to support base material 31 to be made a reflection plate, and it is stuck to the polarizing plate 1 through an adhesive layer 2 if necessary, etc. Then, this translucent type polarizing plate is arranged on a backlight side of a liquid crystal cell having the backlight to be made the liquid crystal display device. Thus, the liquid crystal display device for both of reflection/transmission excellent for a reflection characteristic and excellent for the visibililty by the reflection mode is obtained. |
