The arrangement consists of a funnel (1) on top of which a trough is mounted in which a workpiece is supported inside a cutout in a plate (2). The cutout closely follows the contour of the workpiece so that there is an increased airflow close to the surface of the workpiece. The workpiece can be rotated in the cutout if it has rotational symmetry or, if it has an even cross-section, it can be moved up and down in the cutout. When the workpiece has rotational symmetry, it is supported on rollers which are rotated so that every part of its circumference passes through the cutout. The coolant which is removed from the workpiece is filtered out and reused.
