PURPOSE: A driving apparatus for self refreshing is provided to quickly generate a refresh driving signal with a refresh controlling signal only regardless of the output period of an oscillator when a refresh operation is performed in the first one cycle to improve a refresh property CONSTITUTION: A self refresh apparatus includes a refresh control signal generating portion(1), a refresh period generating portion(3), and a refresh driving signal generating portion(5) and provides a short pulse generating portion inputting the refresh controlling signal and generating a short pulse to the refresh driving signal generating portion. The refresh driving signal generating portion responds to the refresh controlling signal and outputs a refresh driving signal when the first cycle operation is performed, and then responds to a logical compounding of one output period selected among the large number of refresh output periods and the refresh controlling signal in a cycle operation and outputs a refresh driving signal to increase a refresh speed when the first cycle operation is performed.
