A hot water storage tank with layered effect, i.e. hot water layers at the top, has a heating system comprising one or more heat exchangers (2, 3) outside the tank supplied with cold water from the bottom tapping (12) via a pump (4) and ducted back into the wider bottom (13) of a tapering vertical duct (14) fitted to the inside of the tank. Hot water rises up the duct and out of the narrow top. To improve the layering effect several apertures (28) are provided in the sides of the duct. This allows heated water to be added to the appropriate layers without undue disturbance.
|
