PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cleaning device that has a simple configuration and steadily removes toner accumulating on a cleaning blade. SOLUTION: A toner removal screw 533 is disposed in the vicinity of the cleaning blade 531 so as to be rotatable around its axis in such a a manner that parts near its both ends parallel to the axial direction of an intermediate transfer belt 520 are not supported. Thus, while rotated around the axis and moved at least in the axial direction of the intermediate transfer belt 520, the toner removal screw 533 removes toner accumulating on the cleaning blade 531 in the area where the cleaning blade 531 is in contact with the toner removal screw 533.
