PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently synthesizing phenol derivatives having various substitution styles. SOLUTION: This method for producing the phenol compound of formula (2) is characterized by reacting a trienone of formula (1) (R1to R10are each H, a hydrocarbon group or the like) in the presence of a ruthenium catalyst and then isomerizing the double bonds of the obtained ring-closed product.
