PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a PDP back plate, the method for easily producing the PDP back plate with stepwise ribs. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing a PDP back plate includes the step of preparing a member for forming the back plate, which has a substrate, a patternized address electrode formed on the substrate, a dielectric layer formed so as to cover the address electrode, and a matrix rib which are formed on the dielectric layer and are made of a vertical rib and a horizontal rib; and the step of forming a stepwise rib in which the horizontal rib is lower than the vertical rib, by means of first blast injection which is performed in the direction along the vertical rib of the member for forming the back plate and by means of second blast injection in which an angle between the injection direction of a blast nozzle and the plane direction of the member for forming a back plate which is equal to or less than a selective cutting angle of the horizontal rib.
