PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance image quality and cooling capacity of a reflection type projector. SOLUTION: A panel base 32 transfers heat of a liquid crystal panel 31. Peltier elements 33R and 33L transfers heat of the panel base 32 to heat sinks 34-1L and 34-1R. Wind of a fan flows in a longitudinal direction of the liquid crystal panel 31 as shown by a white arrow in Fig. 2, for taking heat from the heat sinks 34-1L and 34-1R. The wind of the fan directly hits the rear surface of the liquid crystal panel 31 and takes also heat of the rear surface of the liquid crystal panel 31. Since the rear surface of the liquid crystal panel 31 is exposed and no stress is generated, image quality can be improved.
