A method of manufacturing an article includes forming a fluid-filled bladder element (10) from polymeric material. The method further includes securing an overlay (14 A, 14B, 14C, 14D, 14E, 14F, 14G, 14) to the polymeric material. At least one portion (80, 82) of the overlay (14 A, 14B, 14C, 14D, 14E, 14F, 14G, 14) is substantially transparent, and an image (12A, 12B, 12C, 12E, 12F, 12G) on one of the fluid-filled bladder element (10) and the overlay (14A, 14B, 14C, 14D, 14E, 14F, 14G, 14) is aligned with and exposed to view through the at least one portion (80, 82) of the overlay (14A, 14B, 14C, 14D, 14E, 14F, 14G, 14) that is substantially transparent. The fluid-filled bladder element (10) is assembled in the article so that a first portion (80, 82) of the fluid-filled bladder element (10) and the image (12A, 12B, 12C, 12E, 12F, 12G) are exposed to view, and a second portion (80, 82) of the fluid- filled bladder element (10) is blocked from view by the article. An article includes the fluid-filled bladder element (10) with the image (12A, 12B, 12C, 12E, 12F, 12G), and with the overlay (14A, 14B, 14C, 14D, 14E, 14F, 14G, 14) secured to the fluid- filled bladder element (10). |
