Controlling pollutant emission from meat-smoking kiln - by ozonisation of flue gas

Emission of pollutants (e.g. fatty acids, wood tars, aldehydes, acetic acid, formic acid and residues of hydrocarbon and carbon cpds.) from kilns used for smoking sausages and/or meat is controlled by passing the flue gas through an electrically operated ozoniser or by contacting the flue gas with air which has been passed through such an ozoniser. Flue gas from the smoking kiln is scrubbed and vented through a flue pipe. The ozoniser can be built into the flue pipe, or air from an external ozoniser can be injected tangentially into the flue pipe.
