Measuring play in vehicle coupling release mechanisms - using displacement transducer on release lever and compensated measurement circuit

The arrangement for measuring the play in coupling disengagement devices is applicable to vehicle couplings with release bearings (2) and levers (4) normally held in output positions by springs. They enable very objective measurement and esp. enable reduction of the subjective inaccuracies dependent on the test operator. When the device which removes the contact region (9) from the release bearing (2) is operated an electrical null point measurement signal is generated. The distance between the positions of the contact region on removal from the bearing and when the lever reaches its output position is measured electrically. A displacement measurement transducer (13) is clamped to the coupling release lever (5). It is connected to a measurement circuit with compensation for the signal produced on removal.
