FIREPROOF OPEN-JOINT CONSTRUCTION AND METHOD THEREFOR

The fireproof open joint structure and its method of construction include at least one vertical groove (11) provided in each of the vertical headers of adjoining curtain walls (W) to form facing pairs. Into these vertical grooves (11) fits a thermal shield plate (10). The shield plate has air vents in its side portions, and provided between the curtain wall vertical headers are fixed shape opposing seals (20,20). The isobaric spacess (A) and (B) thus formed together with the plate (10) give the open joint waterproofing and fireproofing properties.
